Library drops cost for e-books
2 April 2014
It will cost less to borrow e-books from the Te Awamutu and Cambridge libraries from July this year.
The library introduced an e-book collection in 2012/2013, charging library users $2 per e-book for a three-week loan period. But following a recommendation from library staff, Council will reduce the charge to 50 cents per e-book, the same as that for print books.
Library staff believe the reduction will encourage more library users to make use of the electronic collection.
The Waipa libraries currently have e-books ranging from fiction titles in a variety of genres to non-fiction covering areas like travel, history and biography.
There are around 150,000 print books in Waipa's library collection along with DVDs, talking books, newspapers and magazines.
