Waipa District Council launches Facebook page

Waipa District Council has launched its own Facebook page in an effort to keep people informed of the latest council news.

While the council has a Home of Champions Facebook page to promote the Waipa District, it was recognised there needed to be an opportunity for the community to engage in discussion and feedback on the council's activities as well.

Community Relationships Manager Wayne Green said it was important to preserve the integrity of the Home of Champions tourism brand.

However, we also appreciate that our community needs and wants to be able to engage with council and that is something we want to encourage and support, he said.

Social media technologies provide another channel for us to keep our communities informed of the latest council news so we have established the new Facebook page to do exactly that, he said.
