Waipā moves to Delta Level 2

New restrictions are in place following the announcement that Waipā will move to Delta Level 2 as at 11.59pm, Tuesday 7 September.

The new version of Alert Level 2, dubbed Delta Level 2, means anyone visiting Waipā District Council’s public facilities, including the museum, libraries, aquatic facilities and Council buildings are required to wear face coverings and ensure they can physically distance from others by two-metres.

The tougher restrictions come as Auckland remains in Level 4 Lockdown for an additional week, following a COVID-19 outbreak of the Delta variant that has seen community cases surpass 800 since 17 August.

Under Delta Level 2, the following guidelines will be in place:

• Face coverings and contact tracing are mandatory to enter any Council facility.
• Physical distancing of two metres in public facilities is required.
• Operations such as roading, water services, maintenance, major projects, essential services and recycling will continue with heightened safety measures in place.
• Recycling collection will resume for narrow streets and assisted streets services.
• Front counter services at Council’s Cambridge and Te Awamutu offices will reopen with a limit on the number of people allowed into the building at one time. Contact tracing, face covering and physical distancing are required (unless medical exemption applies).
• Recreational facilities including playgrounds, skateparks, toilets, BMX tracks and boat ramps will be open to the public.
• The libraries and museum will reopen with limits on the numbers of people allowed into the building at one time to ensure physical distancing can take place.

Residents are asked to adhere to strict physical distancing in all public spaces and are encouraged to wash their hands before and after using any public exercise or playground equipment.

No more than 30 people will be allowed in the Te Awamutu and Cambridge libraries at any one time, and at a maximum visit limit of 20 minutes. The libraries’ public computers will not be available for use.

With more than 28,000 books due to be returned across the two libraries, care and caution must be taken. Returns will only be received via the after-hours book return slots with oversized items returned to the large trolley outside the main library areas.

Ten people at a maximum visit limit of 30 minutes will be allowed in the Te Awamutu Museum at Delta Level 2.
