Pirongia residents have say on community facilities

What should the future of skateparks, play spaces and halls look like in Pirongia? This is the question Pirongia residents will be asked at a community event for the whole whānau next week.

Waipā District Council is seeking feedback on a future skatepark and play space, as well as introducing a study on community halls. The event on Friday, October 27 kicks off at 4.30pm at the Pirongia Rugby and Sports Club.

Community services manager Brad Ward encouraged residents to come along, learn about the upcoming projects and enjoy some music, entertainment and grab a bite to eat.

“There’s a lot of opportunity for Pirongia. Following the 2021-2031 Long Term Plan, feedback highlighted a desire for more and improved skateparks and play spaces. We also know our community halls need a review, and what better way to talk to the community about these facilities than with one event to entertain tamariki and inform Pirongia residents on these key projects.”

The skatepark and play spaces engagement is currently open for feedback. The Pirongia halls survey will open on Monday, October 30, with this event being an opportunity to learn about the upcoming study.

“We’ll be asking the community how they use the current hall facilities, whether they are fit for purpose, and what the future of the facilities could look like. For the skatepark and play spaces, we want to understand how the community will use these spaces and what we should include in their design. Now is the time for the community to have their say in shaping Pirongia’s future,” Ward said.
