Road closures
Road flooding
When the weather turns bad we sometimes have flooding, slips or tree falls which can block our roads.
You can help us keep roads open and drains clear by;
- Use a properly constructed vehicle entrance way and do not block kerbs or drains with timber or small pipes to access your property.
- If you see a street catch pit grate blocked with leaves or litter please clear it if safe and easily done or call us so we can unblock it to prevent water overflow in the next rainfall.
- Keep farm drains clear of debris which could otherwise float down and block culverts under roads and let us know if there is a suspected blocked culvert so we can clear it before the next big rainfall.
- Monitor the condition of your trees and shelterbelts near the road and take action to deal with trees in poor health and at risk of falling onto the road.
If you've seen flooding occurring on the road, please let us know immediately so that we can ensure the drains are cleared as soon as possible to help ensure the water gets away. You can phone us on 0800 WAIPADC (924 723), we're available 24/7.
If the flooding is a danger to traffic please let the operator know and the work will be given a high priority. If life or property is at risk then call 111.
Road closures for maintenance
Sometimes we need to close roads because it is temporarily unsafe or road maintenance or improvement is required which cannot be done with traffic present. When this happens we will do our best to provide advanced notice and detours, but in an emergency no notice may be given. We will do our best to re-open the road as soon as possible and keep residents informed. You can check our website for closure information or call our customer services team to get the latest update on a road closure.
