Cambridge North
A number of projects are taking place in Cambridge North. This is due to the rapid growth that is predicted for the area over the next 10 - 15 years.
What's the story on growth?
By 2050, we're expecting an additional 25,000 people in Waipa, bringing our popultation to nearly 75,000. That's 14,000 more people for Cambridge, 5,400 in Te Awamutu and Kihikihi and more than 6,000 additional residents spread around the rest of the district.
For Cambridge, a lot of this growth is planned for Cambridge North.
In May 2017 we consulted with the community about making changes to our 2009 District Growth Strategy to cater for this rapid growth. We developed a website, held community open days and produced a hardcopy booklet to show what this growth could mean for different parts of our district.
