Last week for feedback on Enhanced Annual Plan
There are five days left for residents to have their say on whether Waipā District Council has the balance right in its draft 2024/25 Enhanced Annual Plan.
After hitting pause on its Long Term Plan, council has taken a ‘back to basics’ approach.
Mayor Susan O’Regan said the council had tried to strike a balance between meeting the cost of necessary renewals and maintenance, while planning for the future.
The plan for the 2024/25 financial year primarily focuses on maintaining levels of service to the community, renewing assets, and catering for growth.
The decision follows a huge increase in costs, a slow-down in property sales affecting growth related income and council's debt moving closer to its limit.
"We want the community to tell us if we have the balance right,” O’Regan said. Feedback is also being sought on whether the Cambridge Water Tower should be removed or restored to address health and safety concerns.
The cost to remove the water tower is estimated to be $810,000 versus an estimated $6m to restore.
Submissions for the draft 2024/25 Enhanced Annual Plan close 5pm, Friday, April 26.
