Applications open for commemoration fund
11 July 2013
Community groups planning to help celebrate the Waipa District's 150th birthday next year are being invited to apply for a share of a $100,000 fund.
The aim of the fund, which was approved during the council's Annual Plan process, is to help support commemoration events that acknowledge the district's history and community.
Community Relationships Manager Wayne Green said any community groups wanting to undertake an activity or hold an event that supports the 150th commemorations and that promotes, educates or entertains the community during 2014 are able to apply for one of two funding rounds.
Application forms for the first round of funding are now available at the Council's Te Awamutu and Cambridge offices, or can be downloaded from either the dedicated commemorations website www.waipa150th.org.nz or by clicking here.
Completed applications must be received by 5pm, Friday 16 August 2013, and can be delivered to either of council's offices or posted to: 150th Commemorations Fund, Waipa District Council, Private Bag 2402, Te Awamutu 3840.
A second funding round will be open May 2014.
Applications will be considered by the District Promotions Committee with the addition of the Cambridge and Te Awamutu Community Board chairs and a representative from the Pirongia Consultative Committee.
A free community day at Mighty River Domain on Waitangi Day, 6 February 2014 is also being planned to launch the commemorations and community groups will be able to participate for free.
Enquiries can be made to events@waipadc.govt.nz or Andrea Duncan on 07 872 0483.
