Boardwalk repairs underway
21 January 2014
Work has begun on replacing some of the floating boardwalk at Lake Ngaroto.
Around 150 metres of the boardwalk at the rowing club end of the lake is being replaced as part of Waipa District Council's ongoing asset renewal programme.
The boardwalk had begun to sink in places and some of the bridges had begun to lean.
Work is expected to take around two weeks to complete and will cost around $52,000. During construction, runners and walkers may find some parts of the boardwalk temporarily closed. Signs are in place advising of the work.
