Community help sought to curb tagging in Cambridge
13 June 2013
Waipa District Council is calling for help from the Cambridge Community to halt a rise in the amount of tagging around the town over the past few months.
There has been a noticeable increase in tagging and defacing of public and private property in Cambridge affecting buildings, playgrounds, parks, signs and most recently the Cenotaph.
The public can get involved and help us by reporting any instances of tagging or suspicious behavior to the Cambridge Police on 827 5531, Service Delivery Group Manager Barry Bergin said.
These vandals have no respect for our community and property, and being forced to clean up after them is a waste of ratepayer resources.
To deface the Cenotaph, which honours those who gave their lives to serve New Zealand, is particularly abhorrent. We know the people of Cambridge are tremendously proud of their town and we're sure they will get in behind us and help stamp out this problem, Mr Bergin said.
