Free cycling safety course
11 November 2013Sport Waikato and Waipa District Council have joined forces to offer a free cycling skills course for adults. The beginner's course aims to increase confidence and road safety awareness for those new to cycling or getting back on a bike for summer. The same course proved so popular last year that riders are being asked to register their interest early so an assessment of demand can be made. The two-night course covers basic maintenance with an emphasis on puncture repairs plus cycle skills and tips aimed at keeping cyclists safe on the road. Those without a bike, but planning to get one, can still attend as a bike will be provided. The first session covering bike maintenance will be held on Monday, December 2 from 5.30pm - 7.30pm and the second, covering safety, on Thursday, December 5. The venue for both nights is the netball courts on Mangahoe Street in Te Awamutu. The course will link budding cyclists into cycling groups and upcoming cycling events. To register for the course, call Megan Jolly on 021 298 9920 or email mfj@xtra.co.nz ends For more information contact:Megan Jolly 021 298 9920
