Repairs to Karapiro water reservoir
29 August 2014Karapiro residents are being asked to be conscious of their water use over the next month while one of their reservoirs is emptied for maintenance.
A recent assessment of both reservoirs which service Karapiro identified that structural repairs were needed for one reservoir and that a stainless steel pipe should be installed on the roof of the other. The pipe is to prevent water ponding on the roof.
Waipa District Council's manager, water services, Lorraine Kendrick said the work was important to keep the reservoirs in a good condition. But it did mean having to empty one for a period of time.
"It means we will be operating at reduced capacity with only one of the reservoirs fully functional. Although this should not affect pressure or supply we do ask locals to be conscious of their water use while the maintenance is being undertaken," she said.
The work will be undertaken by Brian Perry Civil. Work is expected to begin next week (September 1) and be complete by early October.
