Soldiers Track to be partially closed for tree removal

A section of Soldiers Track, which runs alongside the Waikato River in Cambridge, is temporarily closed to the public to allow a number of dead and dying gum trees to be removed.
The track will be closed from the Cook Street end to approximately halfway along Shakespeare Street, and track users will be able to use these streets to divert around the closed section.
About 13 of the gum trees along Soldiers Track will be removed because they are either dead or dying, and pose a safety risk to track users. Once the trees have been removed the area will be replanted.
Removal of the trees is expected to take about a week.
