Te Awamutu Museum has been named a finalist in the 2013 New Zealand Museum Awards.
Museum staff entered the We Love Eels Exhibition which celebrated the endangered New Zealand Longfin Eel, and ran for six months from May to November 2012.
Director Anne Blyth said staff were both proud and excited to be named finalists in the awards.
The awards have been held annually since 2008 and are designed to showcase outstanding projects that contribute to best practice and demonstrate excellence, relevance and vision.
Winners will be announced tomorrow night (April 11) at an Awards Dinner held each year as part of the annual Museums Aotearoa Conference, which this year is being held in Hamilton.
