The continuing hot, dry weather and the reduction of flow in the upper reaches of the Mangauika Stream has left Waipa District Council with little option but to start the river pumps on the lower reaches of the stream to supplement supply through the Te Tahi Water Treatment Plant to Pirongia and Te Awamutu.
All tests indicate that the stream is clear of any algae and the water is suitable for treatment and distribution for consumption.
With a change in water source, some residents may notice a difference in the taste of their water but they can be assured it is perfectly safe to drink.
