Water shutdowns as Alexandra Street work progresses
10 April 2013
Some Te Awamutu residents will be affected by water shutdowns over the next few days as works on Alexandra Street near completion.
Tomorrow night (Thursday, April 11), a shutdown will occur from 9pm to 5am and will affect around 250 properties on College, Alexandra , Collins, Totara, Brockett, Finch, Goodfellow, Laurie, Gibson and Hillcrest streets and Cactus Court.
On Saturday, 100 properties on Alexandra, North, Goodfellow, Leith and Wyllie Streets will be affected during the day from 9am to 5pm. Properties on those streets will also be affected on Monday night with a shutdown occurring between 9pm and 5am the following day.
On Tuesday from 9pm to 5am there will be a shutdown affecting 50 properties on Tawhio and Mahoe Streets and McKenna Place.
Water Services Manager Lorraine Kendrick said a letter drop had taken place to notify affected residents of when the shutdowns would occur.
A water tanker would be available for residents to fill their own containers if needed during the shutdown periods, she said.
The shut downs would complete the water main renewal works.
Mrs Kendrick said the timings had been chosen to minimise disruption for residents and to allow the road to be resurfaced during the school holiday period.
We appreciate that this work may be disruptive for some people and thank everyone in advance for their co-operation, she said.
