Covid funding for not-for-profits allocated
Twelve Waipā community groups have secured financial assistance to help the district in its long-term recovery from COVID-19.
Today’s Strategic Planning and Policy Committee allocated $85,000 from in its Waipā Recovery Fund. In total more than $320,000 has now been allocated to community groups for Covid-19 support with $95,213 remaining in the Fund. The next funding round is likely to be undertaken by a new Council in early 2023.
In total, 23 applications were received in the latest funding round, seeking more than $353,000. Application amounts varied from $1,672 to more than $74,000 and came from a cross-section of not-for-profit organisations across the district. Many were centered around support services for children, including counselling services.
Funding was not available to support operating deficits from prior to COVID-19. Groups that had received funding from Council within the same financial year, for the same project, were not eligible.
All successful applicants are required by Council to file reports on what was achieved with the funding within 12 months. Successful applicants were:
