Funds allocated to Waipā community groups
Waipā District Council’s Cambridge and Te Awamutu Community Boards and the Pirongia Ward Committee have allocated more than $69,000 to 34 Waipā groups.
The money comes from Council’s 2022-23 Community Discretionary Fund.
The Fund targets not-for-profit groups and organisations that provide a local community or welfare service to the wider Waipā community. In its first funding allocation, more than 41 applications were received, requesting $184,541.84 in total.
Waipā District Council deputy chief executive Ken Morris said the fund is of great benefit to local community groups and can help give worthy projects a financial boost.
“These groups do a lot of good in the community and are widely appreciated so being able to support them with modest grants is a great way to recognise their work.”
Applications for the second round of the Community Discretionary Fund will open in February 2023.
