Waipā tops the Waikato for hospitality, according to Airbnb
Waipā District is the hospitality capital of the Waikato and the third most hospitable district in New Zealand, according to Airbnb.
The online accommodation marketplace has released a list of the towns and areas of regional New Zealand based on the highest density of five-star reviews.
The only two districts ahead of Waipā were Carterton and South Taranaki. Waipā led the Waikato region, closely followed by neighbours South Waikato and Matamata-Piako in fourth and fifth spot respectively, and Hauraki District in eighth place.
Mayor Susan O’Regan said the placing was no surprise given the Waipā District was well-known as the Home of Champions prided itself on ensuring visitors always had a memorable stay.
“All of our accommodation providers always go the extra mile to represent our district with pride, so it’s easy to see why we received the results that we did,” she said.
“We are looking forward to a boomer summer and are ready to welcome the thousands of visitors we receive every year to make the most of what our district has to offer.”
