A Civil Defence Emergency Management Local Recovery Manager has been appointed to Waipā District.
Sally Sheedy, Waipā District Council’s group manager customer and community services, has taken up the role after being appointed by the Waikato Civil Defence Emergency Management Joint Committee and endorsed by Council this week.
The Local Recovery Manager is responsible for recovery, preparation and work for territorial authorities and directs them to perform functions, powers, and duties of the area they are appointed to cover.
Sheedy completed the Response and Recovery Leadership Development Programme before being appointed and said it was just the start of a process for recovery planning for the Waipā District.
“I’m looking forward to supporting the district in being prepared if a Civil Defence emergency was to eventuate,” she said.
