The planned water shutdown for Maungatautari (including Karapiro Domain) is postponed for a week until Wednesday 14 June. It is estimated to finish around 2pm the latest.
If you are home we recommend storing water for daily tasks: drinking (approximately two litres per person), general hygiene and food prep. To flush your toilet, you will need to store a bucket of approximately 10 litres of water, you can either pour the water down the toilet or fill the cistern and flush using the normal flush system.
The Council won't supply water to all properties in the area that are on tanks or bores. You will require to have enough stored water until the end of the water shutdown.
Once the water is turned back on we will flush your main pipes, which can cause air to become trapped, we suggest running your outside tap for five minutes capture the water in a bucket and reuse it in your garden.
