At the intersection of SH1 and Hydro Road, Waka Kotahi will be starting works on a new turnaround bay, as part of the SH1 Cambridge to Piarere Safety Improvements, to provide a safer right turn from SH1 into Hydro Road.
The work is expected to take between six and eight weeks, subject to weather. From 19 June there will be no right turn onto or out of Hydro Road. You can still turn left as usual if you are coming from the south, or if you’re exiting Hydro Road to head to Cambridge.
Residents can use Ariki Street over the Karāpiro Dam, which is open until 31 July. Please see the map below for the recommended alternative routes.
