Watermain renewal works - Cambridge residential

As part of our watermains renewal project, Camex Civil, will be working in the Cambridge residential areas outlined below between Monday 25 and Thursday 28 March 2024.

Water shutdowns are required when we connect the pipes up to the mains, and some work will require partial road closures.

Lane closure - Williams Street, Monday, 25 March

The west-bound lane of Williams Street will be closed between Vogel and Hall Streets, from 8am to 6pm. Recycling collection will go ahead as scheduled.

Lane Closure – Grey Street, Tuesday, 26 March

The north-bound lane of Grey Street will be closed between King and Taylor Streets, from 6:30am to 6pm.

Water shutdown – Grey, King and Taylor Streets, Tuesday, 26 March

Water will be turned off from 8:30am for approximately 6 hours on the following streets:

Grey Street, between King and Taylor Streets
King Street, between Grey and Victoria Streets
Taylor Street, between Victoria and Hall Streets.

Please note that the timeframe for the water shutdown could be longer if any problems occur.

Lane closure – King Street, Wednesday, 27 and Thursday, 28 March

The west-bound lane of King Street will be closed, between Grey and Victoria Streets from 6:30am to 6pm.

Water shutdown – Grey, King and Victoria Streets, Thursday, 28 March

Water will be turned off from 8:30am for approximately 6 hours on the following streets:

Grey Street, between King and Williams Streets
King Street, between Hall and Victoria Streets
Victoria Street, between King and Taylor Streets
Wilkinson Place

Please note that the timeframe for the water shutdown could be longer if any problems occur.

Lane closures

Traffic management and detours will be in place. Some footpaths and roadside parking will also be restricted. Contractors will be onsite to assist residents, vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians moving through this area. Please be careful when passing through since this area will be an active construction site.

Water shutdowns

If you are home, we recommend storing water for daily tasks: drinking (approximately two litres per person), general hygiene, and food prep. To flush your toilet, you will need to store a bucket of approximately 10 litres of water. You can pour the water down the toilet or flush the cistern using the normal flush system. You can also store water in your bath.

Once the water is turned back on, we will flush the main pipes. This can cause air to become trapped. We suggest running your outside tap for five minutes, capturing the water in a bucket and reusing it in your garden.
