Alexandra Street will be closed between Factory Road and Tawhaio Street from 6pm, Friday March 29 until Monday April 1, 2024.
KiwiRail will be using the Easter long weekend to do work on the rail crossing on Alexandra Street. Access to VTNZ and Fonterra will be maintained.
The footpath along either side will be closed for pedestrians and cyclists while the contractors are lifting rails and digging along the pedestrian crossing. It will reopen to the public when it is safe for them to access.
While both footpaths are closed, a vehicle will be available to assist pedestrians in crossing. They will be picked up on one side of Alexandra Street and dropped off on the other side. The vehicle will be equipped to accommodate individuals using mobility scooters.
