Trees along Victoria Street, between Alpha and Bath Streets, need to be pruned and maintained to
keep Cambridge looking its best.
Part of this work includes removing three cherry trees, which have a fungal condition called silver leaf
disease. Additionally, their root systems are causing damage to the footpaths. We will replace the
cherry trees with a more appropriate species in winter, as part of our annual planting programme.
There are also several old tree stumps that we need to remove from the central road berm between
Alpha and Duke Streets.
To minimise disruption to the community, our contractor, Treescape, will be carrying out the work at
night, between Sunday, April 13 and Wednesday, April 16.
The first stage of works will require closing Victoria Street, between Alpha and Duke Streets on
Sunday, April 13, from 8pm to 6am.
The second stage of works will require a lane closure on Victoria Street, between Duke and Bath
Streets and on a small section of Wilson Street, from Monday, April 14 to Tuesday, April 15, from 8pm
to 6am. Wilson Street can still be accessed from Duke Street, and stop/go traffic management will be
in place so traffic can move along Victoria Street.
We aim to complete all the tree work during this time, but Wednesday, 16 April, is reserved in case
any tasks remain unfinished.
