Complete your Waipa Heritage Passport to win
29 September 2017
Te Awamutu Museum has launched its first Waipa Heritage Passport just in time for the school holidays, encouraging kids to explore the Waipa district.
Guided by the two Museum mascots, Tui and Tama, kids take their passport to three specific heritage sites in the district; Lake Ngaroto, Yarndley's Bush and Rangiaowhia.
Museum and heritage director Anne Blyth said the passport was designed as a fun and easy way to connect kids to key heritage sites in Waipa.
Kids must visit each site and complete certain activities to earn a stamp in their passport. Once they have collected all three stamps they are rewarded with a prize. To celebrate the launch of our first passport, the first 10 people to bring their completed passport into the Museum will receive an extra Tui and Tama prize.
We have so many important places in our district and this is a great activity for children and their families to learn about them over the holidays, she said.
The passport is interactive and encourages kids to answer questions about each site, take a picture or draw what they see, identify birdlife and learn about local history.
The first in the series of collectable passports is available to pick up at Te Awamutu Museum from Monday 2 October.
Opening hours:
Monday - Friday 10am-4pm
Saturday 10am-2pm
Sunday Closed
