We're making a community video full of aroha and good luck vibes for our Waipā Home of Champions based athletes, but we need your help!
Waipā Fan Festival
Join us at the Home of Cycling on Sunday, August 4, to celebrate our hometown heroes as they take on the world stage in the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.
We have exciting action on the infield from 9am - 12pm and some good food to enjoy!

How your business can get involved
As your business is at the heart of our town centre, we need your help to show our hometown heroes that Waipā is proud of them.
How you can get involved
- Decorate your shop window – NZ, French, Olympic themed - show your true colours. We have a decal for your shop window to let your customers know you’re Waipā proud and supporting our team.
- Film a message of support – Whip out your phone and send us your team’s 5-second message of support for our community video. Your short message will go a long way to letting our hometown heroes know that you’re backing them!
- Let us know how you’re celebrating – Hosting a watch party, having an in-store event or promotion, or dressing up? Let us know! We want to share your awesome mahi with our champion community - your customers!
- Come to our event – On August 4, the Grassroots Trust Velodrome is transforming into the Waipā Fan Festival. We have lots of activities planned to celebrate the Olympics and have some fun. Keep an eye on our social media for more info.
We’re turning our Facebook and Instagram profiles red, white and blue in a nod to the Paris Games and we need your photos and videos. We’re keen to work with champion people like you, who are ready to have some fun and celebrate our unique identity as the Home of Champions.
Fundraise for our Paralympians
Paris Paralympics 28 August to 8 September 2024
The action doesn't stop on August 11. We'll be cheering on our Paralympic heroes too, but they need your help though to get them across the finish line.
Paralympic NZ need fundraise to take our exceptional team to Paris and beyond. Can your school host a casual clothes day, or have a dress up day fundraiser for our Paralympic team? Email Victoria Hughes at vhughes@paralympics.org.nz for Party for Paris resources and information.
Paralympics NZ have also created some awesome educational resources to change perceptions of disability through the lens of Paralympians, Para athletes, and the Paralympic Movement.
