Creative funding supports local projects
17 November 2017
Just over $30,000 has been allocated to creative events and projects in Waipa.
The Creative Communities Scheme, administered by Waipa District Council and funded by Creative New Zealand, is supporting 15 applications from its September round.
The fund is aimed at promoting, supporting and increasing participation and diversity in community arts and cultural activities.
Assessment committee chair Robyn Gibbeson said it was great to see a diverse mix of applications.
We're seeing a lot more variety in the type of applications which is really exciting. In this funding round we are supporting new artists, groups and projects coming to the district and it's great to see them applying to the fund, Gibbeson said.
This rounds successful applicants include a film making workshop for youth and a positive body image workshop for women.
The fund, previously split between Te Awamutu and Cambridge, is now a district wide fund assessed by a panel of art experts from across Waipa.

The next funding round opens in April 2018.
