Dog Registration – It Pays to Pay by 31 July 2011
Dog Registration - It Pays to Pay by 31 July 2011
17 June 2011
It's dog re-registration time! Waipa District Council will be sending out renewal notices to dog owners over the next few days and owners have until 31st July 2011 to pay registration fees and complete the registration process. After that date a 50% penalty will apply for any dog not registered.
Public Notices advertising this year's fees have also been placed in local papers.
The Dog Control Act 1996 requires all dogs to be registered from three months of age, and any new dog acquired during the year must also be registered immediately. Failure to do so may result in a $300 infringement fine, and/or the dog being seized from its owner's property and impounded.
Accompanying the registration notice this year is Council's Canine Comment - Waipa's annual newsletter for all dog owners. A Change of Dog Registration Details form is also enclosed, and any owner who has moved or is intending to move in the near future is encouraged to complete this form and return to us using the freepost option.
Dog owners wanting to find out more about the registration process can visit www.waipadc.govt.nz or phone our Customer Support staff on (0800) 924 723.
Don't be caught out - register your dog as soon as possible!
