Free wifi at new library
22 August 2016
Waipa District Council has confirmed free wifi will be available at Te Awamutu's new library.
The wifi, which provides free access to the internet, will be up and running when the new library opens in October. The same service is likely to be offered at the Cambridge library by early 2017 and reflects similar decisions made by councils nationwide.
Physical work on Te Awamutu's new library began before Christmas last year and has continued through 2016. The exterior is now nearing completion, including installation of the striking filigree design panels.
Council will be offering locals a "sneak preview" of the new library building on Monday, September 5 between 12 noon - 3pm. Project manager Lorraine Kendrick said the project team and elected members were keen for people to look through the building before staff began moving in books and furniture.
"There will be an official opening as well, but we're happy to throw the doors open early so people can have a quick look," she said.
"This is a big deal for Te Awamutu and we appreciate that people are excited and want to have a look at their new facility."
