Heritage fund closing soon
8 December 2017
Heritage supporters are encouraged to apply for Waipa District Council's heritage fund, the last opportunity in 2017.
A total of $70,000 is available each year for projects that help preserve and enhance Waipa's unique heritage.
Heritage and museum manager Tony Roxburgh says Council is committed to preserving the district's heritage and he is keen to hear from individuals and community groups about projects they would like to see supported.
We are particularly keen to hear from new applicants who can bring fresh ideas to the table, he says.
The funding can be used to assist with physical works for heritage buildings, objects, restoring natural vegetation or habitats and cultural or archaeological sites.
Projects benefiting from the fund include weed control at Karamu, restoration at Kaniwhaniwha reserve, weed control at Lake Rotongata, assistance with repairs of Cambridge Bowling Club and St Andrew's Church in Cambridge, and planting at Mangaohoi Stream.
Applications for the latest round of the Heritage Fund close on December 30, 2017.
Those wishing to apply for funding, or wanting more information, should contact Waipa District Council or visit waipadc.govt.nz/heritagefund
