Let's get creative Waipā!
1 October 2018
Funding is now open for creative projects throughout the Waipā district.
The Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) supports community arts initiatives that help grow and promote creativity. Funds are provided by Creative New Zealand for councils to administer each year. Annually, $38,000 is available to be allocated across the whole of the Waipā district.
Funding can cover materials for arts activities, venue or equipment hire, promotion of arts activities and more.
Previous recipient Oriwa Morgan-Ward received funding last year to run three creative workshops. They were based in traditional Māori concepts and taught kids aspects of Māori mahi toi, weaving and kite making.
CCS helps artists, educators and creatives like myself deliver projects to the wider community that may not have otherwise been available, Oriwa said.
Funding is open to projects that run between 1 November 2018 and 31 May 2019 and should focus on at least one of the scheme's three criteria; access and participation, diversity or young people.
More information and application forms are available online at waipadc.govt.nz/creativecommunities and at Council offices. Applications must be received by 5pm, Friday 26 October 2018 to be considered.
