Vehicles asked to avoid high level bridge
06 November 2017
Waipa District Council is asking drivers to avoid using Cambridge's high-level bridge on Thursday.
Contractors are investigating a water leak on the Cambridge side of the bridge which popped up last week. The leak is not causing a road hazard but its location means traffic flow will be interrupted while the cause of the leak is investigated.
On site traffic controllers will allow traffic to flow both ways across the bridge but there will be delays. There will be no impact on pedestrians or cyclists.
Group manager service delivery Barry Bergin said it would be helpful if drivers could avoid the bridge while the work was being done.
"At this stage, until we know what's causing the water leak we don't know how long traffic will be interrupted for. But contactors will be in and out as quickly as they can so things can get back to normal."
On-site traffic control will be in place from 9.30 on Thursday morning.
Council will provide updates throughout the day on Thursday via its facebook page (www.facebook.com/waipadistrictcouncil) and customer service centre.
