Waipa District Council has reaffirmed its support for Waikato Regional Council to introduce a regional rate for the proposed National Cycling Centre of Excellence.
The proposal to support the regional rate was signalled at a workshop last week and timed to meet Waikato Regional Council's August 22 deadline for submissions. Councillors yesterday ratified their original decision to support the use of a regional rate to fund activities, services or facilities that were of regional significance and benefit.
Chief Executive Garry Dyet and Waipa Mayor Alan Livingston will present the council's submission at the regional council hearings to be held next week.
