Waipā in line for further award
31 July 2018
Waipa District Council has been shortlisted for another award.
Waipā's consultation document to encourage interest in the Council's 10-Year Plan has been identified as one of New Zealand's best by the Society of Local Government Managers (SOLGM).
Waipā's document, available as a hard copy or as a digital file, was supported by a purpose-built website. The website enabled the Council to present issues in video format and also included a rates calculator. Nearly 80% of Waipā's 820 submissions came via the website.
Of the 56 Councils who entered the award, nine have been short-listed with judges reporting a higher standard than in previous years. Other short-listed entries have come from Gisborne, Hauraki, Timaru, Horowhenua, Kāpiti Coast, Waimakariri, Waimate and Western Bay of Plenty District Councils.
The award winner will be announced at the SOLGM conference in mid-August.
Last month Waipa District Council won a national award for its successful campaign to highlight the district's heritage, including its role in the New Zealand Land Wars.
