Waipa prepares to celebrate rowers return

A celebratory function will be held next week to honour the achievements of our rowers at the 2011 World Rowing Championships.

Waipa District Mayor Alan Livingston said all New Zealand rowers performed outstandingly and it was essential they were welcomed home in style.

Having nine medal winning crews and 11 Olympic qualifying boats is a fantastic result, he said.

The celebration will be held at the Don Rowlands Centre, Mighty River Domain, Lake Karapiro from 3.30pm on Friday, September 30.
