Work continuing below Victoria Bridge

Erosion protection work is continuing on the riverbank below Victoria Bridge in Cambridge.
Waipa District Council road corridor manager Dawn Inglis said soil nailing work to address the slips that had occurred was well underway and work to stabilise the bank below the bridge abutment would start in the next fortnight.
Daily monitoring of the bank was continuing and there had been no evidence of any further slips or movement.
The stormwater system on Pope Terrace and Cook Street has been cleaned and a large amount of material has been removed so there is now reduced risk of stormwater overflowing over the river bank from the roads, Ms Inglis said.
The work was expected to be completed by Christmas.
