Three events funded by Council
Three applicants to the District Promotions Fund have been granted funding today.
Waipā District Council allocated a total of $14,000 from the Fund which supports events which benefit the wellbeing of the Waipā district and its people.
The Takapoto Classic received $8,000 for its week-long international show jumping event in February.
A sub-Committee of Council also allocated $1,000 to the Mountain Bike NZ National Cross-Country (XCO) Series Race 3. The two-day event, to be held in February, is the third and final round of the 2023 National Mountain Bike Cross Country Championships and will be held at the Pirongia Mountain Bike Park.
The Cambridge Football Youth Invitational Tournament received $5,000 to help fund a two-day tournament in April as part of Cambridge Football’s 75th Jubilee celebration.
Overall the District Promotion Fund received 42 applications in the 2022/2023 funding round, seeking more than $350,000 in funding. Of the 42 applications overall, 39 were granted varying levels of support.
