Three candidates for Council spot – so far
Three candidates have already put their hats in the ring to be Waipā District Council’s Māori ward councillor.
And there’s still 10 days left until nominations close.
Barney Manaia, Gaylene Roberts and Dale-Maree Morgan – and possibly others – will contest the seat left vacant following the resignation of Takena Stirling in March.
Nominations do not close until noon on Thursday, April 27th and must be made on the official nomination form. Forms are available now on Council’s website (www.waipadc.govt.nz) or from Council offices in Te Awamutu or Cambridge.
Each nomination must be accompanied by a $200 deposit and each candidate must be nominated by two people.
The delivery of postal voting papers will start on June 1. Voting will close on Friday June 23 with a successful candidate likely to be announced the same day.
