384 valuation objections lodged
Around 1.5 per cent of Waipā property owners have lodged formal objections to their most recent property valuation.
The valuations from independent company Quotable Value were sent to all property owners in May. Overall, the district saw a 45.4 per cent increase in the capital value of property (based on August 2022) compared to a 24.8 per increase in value reported in 2019. There was a valuation increase across all property types.
All up, 384 objections were received by the deadline on Friday. This compares to 220 received when the valuations were last done three years ago. While some property owners claim their property values are too high, others say they are too low. Objections have been received across the whole district.
Council staff have now sent all objections to the independent valuers who will contact property owners directly and reassess values over the next three months. This process has nothing to do with council staff.
Once new valuations have been agreed, Quotable Value will advise Council and property owners will be advised.
