Final stage of engagement for Ahu Ake – Waipā Community Spatial Plan
Exciting news! We are in the process of planning our next steps of engagement for Ahu Ake – Waipā Community Spatial Plan.
This plan will guide the Council’s planning and investment decisions over the next 30 years, aiming to build connected communities and achieve community outcomes; to become socially resilient, cultural champions, environmental champions, and economically progressive.
It has been developed through extensive engagement with Mana Whenua/Iwi, stakeholders, and the wider community and feedback from this engagement has been used to develop the draft plan which we will be seeking our community’s feedback on.
We will be undertaking a Special Consultative Procedure which is a formal process that gives Mana Whenua/Iwi, stakeholders, and the wider community a final opportunity to provide formal submissions on the draft plan. It is a crucial part of our commitment to engaging the community and ensuring that all views are heard before we begin its implementation.
Consultation will take place later this year. Once submissions have been considered, the Council will finalise and adopt Ahu Ake.
We are currently planning our engagement approach with the aim of continuing to involve Mana Whenua/Iwi partners, stakeholders, and the wider community. Our aim is to share the content of the draft plan, and how it will be implemented, for you to have your say.
We are proud of the way our community has taken part in the process to date and we want to ensure we continue to consider all views as we work towards the final version of Ahu Ake – Waipā Community Spatial Plan.
We have received positive feedback about the way we have developed Ahu Ake - Waipā Community Spatial Plan and are building on the award-winning World Café workshops. We want to hear from you, so we encourage everyone to have their say once consultation opens. Your feedback will help shape the future of our district.
