People parking in central Cambridge will soon have an extra seven long-stay spaces to choose from, thanks to a clever rearrangement of parking on the newly sealed Kirkwood Street.
Waipā District Council’s transport manager Bryan Hudson said that with the width of the street and a little innovation, the layout was able to accommodate the extra parking spots.
“By changing the parallel parks on the Briscoes side of the street to angle parks, we get an extra seven long-stay parking spaces.”
The move is supported by Briscoes and by the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.
“We are waiting for the timing to be confirmed, but we are expecting the new marking to be completed in the next couple of weeks,” Hudson said.
The resealing of Kirkwood Street kickstarted the annual reseal programme. The full schedule can be found on our website: waipadc.govt.nz/resealprogramme.
