Consultation on Long Term Plan on its way
Waipā District Council is committed to delivering a comprehensive 2025-34 Long Term Plan, working hand-in-hand with Audit New Zealand to ensure a thorough, transparent and robust process.
While consultation was originally scheduled to open today, the council is taking the necessary time to work with its audit partners before formally engaging with the community.
Chief Executive Steph O’Sullivan said that in light of the complexities currently facing the local government sector, including the implementation of Local Water Done Well, it’s crucial to adopt a careful and collaborative approach that will ensure strong and effective outcomes.
Consultation processes will be undertaken on both the Long Term Plan and the council’s preferred direction for the future delivery of water services.
“We have an extensive programme of engagement planned and look forward to starting the conversations with our community soon,” O’Sullivan said.
“We are dedicated to ensuring the Long Term Plan reflects the needs and priorities of our residents, and it’s important that we take the time to listen, gather their views and ensure their voices are heard as we move forward together.”
