Autumn weather marks end of water restrictions for Waipā
Water restrictions have been lifted for the Waipā District from today.
Water services manager Karl Pavlovich said as autumn weather settled in, bringing cooler temperatures, foggy mornings and much-needed rain to Waipā, water demand was expected to continue to decrease, so there was no longer the need for water restrictions.
“A big thank you to residents for doing their part to reduce water use over what has been a very long, dry summer. We were all in this together, and we appreciate the extra effort made during this time.”
Waipā District and Hamilton City Councils introduced level one water restrictions on 11 February, the first time these have been needed in Waipā since 2019. The measures were necessary with so little rain falling over summer.
“Even though there will be no water restrictions in place, we still need everyone to use water sustainably and responsibly,” Pavlovich said.
Hamilton City Council will remove their water restrictions at the same time.
