Ngā Roto, Te Awamutu

Ngā Roto is a significant cultural site of importance to iwi and a treasured local community asset just north of Te Awamutu. It is a natural wetland with a boardwalk surrounding the lake and is regularly used by the local rowing club, sailing club, duck hunters, walkers and is a popular tourist attraction. Local iwi Ngāti Apakura know the lake as Wairoto.

Try the track

A new boardwalk has opened at Lake Ngā Roto which completes a 5.9km track around the lake. This is open to walking, running and cycling activities. Dogs are welcome on a lead. An estimated full loop of track will take about 60min at walking pace. Get down there and check it out.
