Local Area Plans
Local Area Plans are being developed by Waipā District Council to provide a spatial framework to guide future development, urban design and investment in specific areas. Each Local Area Plan will consider the existing context of the area and contains planning recommendations for a range of topics such as transport and accessibility, land use and character, sites of significant, open space and environment, natural hazards, and infrastructure. These plans are also intended to guide resource consent proposals and although are non-statutory, they are a relevant consideration when determining a resource consent application.
The Carter’s Flat Local Area Plan, was finalised in October 2022, and refers to land east of the Cambridge CBD and located between Lake Te Koo Utu and Kārāpiro Stream that contains a mix of commercial and industrial uses.
