The economic headwinds are continually changing, and Waipā District Council regularly reviews how the Waipā district’s economy is shaping up and its future prospects. This affects how we set our annual (Annual Plan) and 10-year (Long Term Plan) budgets.
We use independent economic advisors, Infometrics, to inform us on how our local economy is tracking, in comparison to the Waikato region and nationally. Infometrics also forecast the direction the economy will take over the next 12 months and more.
Principal Economist and Director at Infometrics, Brad Olsen, recently presented to Waipā District Council as part of the Elected Member induction following the October 2022 triennial local election. A copy of Brad’s presentation and powerpoint to Elected Members on 8 November 2022 is available here (link). Brad will be providing us with further updates as we progress the development of the 2024-34 Long Term Plan.We will endeavour to provide future updates here also.
