Kihikihi alternative water supply project
What improvements can I expect from this project?
Residents may expect minor improvements in water pressure and clarity when the new pipeline supplying the village reservoir on Rolleston Street is completed. The two existing bores that also supply the reservoir contain minerals that can contribute to discolouration and sediment in the existing water network so with the new water supply coming from Te Awamutu via the new pipeline to the reservoir, there may be a slight improvement in these issues.
Will construction affect me?
Most of the construction will be undertaken within the road reserve and along Te Ara Kihikihi to help minimise disruption. Affected property owners will be notified directly of any direct impacts on their properties. We do not expect a change to water services during this time, however a small water shutdown may occur in later in the project when the new pipeline is connected.
Will this affect the Te Ara Kihikihi cycle trail?
The new pipeline will be travelling the same route as Te Ara Kihikihi cycle trail and some sections may be affected during the construction period. We will be providing a safe alternate route wherever the cycleway is affected so users can continue to use the trail with minimal disruption.
